About La Cervecería Astilleros

At La Cervecería Astilleros, also known as The Shipyards Brewery, we proudly bring the vibrant and rich Mexican culture straight to the heart of North Vancouver and Chinatown through our unique craft beers.

Our Story

Founded by Andrew Doyle, a Canadian who grew up in Spanish-speaking countries and is fluent in Spanish, our brewery draws inspiration from authentic Mexican traditions. Our team reflects this passion and authenticity.

Meet Our Head Brewer

Our Head Brewer, David Van Allen, leads the brewing process at La Cervecería Astilleros. David oversees a dedicated team of brewers and cellarmen, ensuring the quality and consistency of our craft beers. With extensive industry experience, he brings creativity and tradition together in every brew.

Our Craft

Since opening in December 2020, we have worked to offer beers that blend traditional techniques with a modern twist. Our flagship beer, El Valle Salado Salted Lime Lager, won a gold medal at the 2023 Canadian Brewing Awards in the Herbs and Spices category. This lager combines a British Columbia-style lager base with a touch of Mexican salt and lime, creating a refreshing and unique experience.

Besides beer, we offer authentic Mexican dishes like tacos, tostadas, nachos, and churros, made by our talented culinary team.

Our Space

Located in Lower Lonsdale, on the coast of North Vancouver, our taproom captures the essence of Mexico. Walls adorned with imported Mexican tiles, live music, and an atmosphere that transports you straight to Mexico.

Join Our Community

At La Cervecería Astilleros, we strive to be genuine, friendly, passionate, and inclusive. We want to share the best of Mexico with the BC community by offering unique flavors that celebrate both tradition and creativity.
